Ford Thunderbird Seat Belt
Ford Motor Company produced the Ford Thunderbird, often referred to as the T-Bird, from October of 1954 to September 1997 and then again from June 2001 to July 2005 for 1955 to 1997 and 2002 to 2005 model years, respectively. Throughout its years on the market, eleven model generations were produced and the Ford Thunderbird switched vehicle classes several times. From 1955 to 1957, the Thunderbird was considered to be a sports car. From 1958 to 1997, it was placed in the personal luxury car class. From 2002 to 2005, it returned to the sports car class. Introduced as a 2-seat convertible, the Thunderbird also was produced in many different body styles throughout its lifespan. The body styles it was created in included a 4-seat convertible, a 4-seat hardtop coupe, a 4-door pillared hardtop sedan, a 5-seat convertible and hardtop, a 5-passenger pillared coupe, and a 6-passenger hardtop coupe. The final generation Ford Thunderbird returned to its roots as a 2-seat convertible.

An interesting thing about the Ford Thunderbird is that it was the vehicle to mark the creation of the market segment that came to be known as personal luxury automobiles—all because of its addition of a back seat in 1958!
