Will seat belts still work if the airbags were deployed in an accident? In this situation, I read that seat belts will lock if you manually pull on them. But they will not work during an accident when they would need to “rapid-fire” in response to a rapid de-acceleration. Is this true?
I am concerned because my daughter bought a car that was in an accident. If the airbags deployed and they were not replaced, will the seat belts still work??
If the airbags were deployed, I would have the seat belts tested by our team. We have found many times, either the seat belts charges are blown but the seat belt did not lock up, or someone gutted the retractor just for the sake of it retracting back and forth. This is very dangerous. It’s better to check and repair if needed than to assume anything is okay.
